Certificate Reporting Tool (CRT)
Overview
Certificate management is an important and often under-addressed aspect of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) planning. This is problematic as PKI and Digital Certificates have become a required component of almost every organization’s IT environment, and unnoticed or unplanned certificate and/or CRL expiration can cause downtime and loss of productivity.
CSS’ Certificate Reporting Tool (CRT) is designed to alert the appropriate parties – in a timely fashion – of impending expiration of digital certificates and CRLs. CRT provides support for all Microsoft Certificate Authority (Microsoft CA) versions with an architecture that can be expanded with the development of custom connectors to arbitrary CAs such as RSA or Entrust.
Product Features
- Certificate Reports. CRT creates roll-up reports of digital certificates that are nearing expiration.
- Statistical Reports. Identify the number of recently issued, failed, revoked, and denied digital certificates. This gives administrators insight into how many certificates are being used compared to previous timeframes.
- Certificate Notices. Use customizable emails to individual subscribers or administrators as digital certificates near expiration. CRT also alerts the appropriate party and manages the process when a manager’s approval is needed.
- Pluggable Interface. Allows CRT to start completely customizable actions, including integrating with third party software (i.e. iOS), trigger workflows in existing enterprise provisioning systems, and integrate custom actions through a published API.
- CRL Inspection. CRT retrieves and examines specified CRLs in both HTTP and LDAP-based locations.
- Stateless Operation. CRT does not require its own database as it leverages the Microsoft CA database directly.
- Certification Authority Support. Out-of-the-box support for all Microsoft CA versions, and an architecture that can be expanded to arbitrary CAs.
- Simple and Cost Effective. CRT’s licensing program does not require an organization to purchase a per user or per digital certificate license.
- Manage “Consumerization.” Under-managed devices introduced into your environment like iPads, iPhones, etc. can be secured with PKI, allowing for digital certificates management through CRT.
